Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate by Texas Board of Legal Specialization

Rick Weaver is proud to be among a select group of Texas attorneys with Board Certification in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  Only 7,400 of about 100,000 attorneys licensed to practice in Texas have achieved this level of competence.

Board certified lawyers earn the right to publicly represent themselves as a specialist in a select area of the law. In fact, they are the only attorneys allowed by the State Bar of Texas to do so. This designation sets them apart as being an attorney with the highest, public commitment to excellence in their area of law.

Board certification is a mark of excellence and a distinguishing accomplishment. Within the Texas legal community, board certification means an attorney has substantial, relevant experience in a select field of law as well as demonstrated, and tested, special competence in that area of law.

Certified Elder Law Attorney – National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA)

Rick Weaver holds the designation of Certified Elder Law Attorney in The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is experienced and trained in working with the legal problems of aging Americans and individuals of all ages with disabilities. This includes providing legal help with:

  • Understand and possibly qualify for Medicaid coverage—including payment of nursing home care and home care
  • Determine health and long-term care insurance needs
  • Plan for incapacity and long-term care for yourself and loved ones
  • Draft of special needs trusts and other specialized trusts
  • Assess retiree health and income benefits

Rick Weaver will help you with guidance and resolution in these areas:

  • Set up a will to provide for your family or others and protect your hard-earned assets from excessive taxes.
  • Obtain your inheritance and resolving family issues in probating a will.
  • Create trusts or guardianships to meet the lifelong needs of disabled children, an aging spouse or parents, or other loved ones.
  • Help qualify a husband, wife, or parent for Medicaid-paid nursing home care and other elder law or medical benefits. Many people qualify for this benefit. With proper legal planning the healthier husband or wife can remain in the family home and retain key assets and income.
  • Negotiate real estate and business transactions, contracts, and closings to help you make more money and avoid legal problems.

You might also enjoy swapping stories with Rick Weaver about growing up in a small town and returning to practice law.  “I boxed cucumbers on a farm as a teenager just outside Fort Worth. It was nothing but fields; you wouldn’t know it today. From that rural background, I landed at SMU in Dallas. They gave me a scholarship, plus I could finish up quickly and go on to law school in Austin at The University of Texas. That was really my goal.

I’ve had an office in Rhome, about 15 minutes north of Fort Worth in Wise County, for more than 20 years. Today, it’s a family business with my wife and son working with me. We help other families and businesses in Wise County, Denton County, Tarrant County, and more. It’s a privilege and a pleasure.”
